The chip usually resets on its own when it reaches ink levels between 5%-10%. Usually if the chip doesn't reset at this point, you can restart the printer. You has to manually check the ink level to prevent cartridges use up to totally empty.

is a brand new compatible cartridge for HP 02 black with more than DOUBLE the
capacity of the original OEM cartridge (this cartridge holds about 30ml compared
to about 12ml for the original HP cartridge). What's more, the chip on this
cartridge lasts for an unlimited # of pages since it auto-resets when the cartridge
empties. This cartridge with auto-reset chip is sold without ink, but is easily
refillable with Durafirm Technology inks or other inks designed to be compatible
with HP technology.
