Why do I need the Canon CLI8 resetter? The CLI8 "smartresetter" is a unique resetter that will reset the OEM Canon CLI-8 and Canon PGI-5 cartridge chips to "new" specs, allowing your printer to recognize the cartridge as new when you refill it.
The chip resetter works for Canon PGI-5 and CLI-8 cartridges under the following conditions:
- Cartridges must be original Canon cartridge
- Reset cartridges before ink level less than 25%
As a result, the resetter is NOT working with compatible cartridges and original cartridge with ink level less than 25%.
